Workplace Relationships Assessment

What it is

The Workplace Relationships Assessment is a self-report questionnaire designed to assess the quality of relationships within the workplace and the interpersonal dynamics that influence occupational wellbeing. Strong and supportive workplace relationships are consistently associated with lower burnout, higher engagement, better mental health outcomes, and greater job satisfaction.

This measure is particularly relevant in occupational mental health settings, where interpersonal difficulties at work may be contributing to or maintaining psychological distress.

How is it used

  • Suitable for adults in current employment
  • Assesses the quality of interpersonal relationships at work, including relationships with colleagues, managers, and the broader team
  • Can be used to identify areas of relational difficulty within the workplace context
  • Useful in occupational therapy, return-to-work support, or where workplace stressors are a focus of clinical or coaching work
  • May be used at regular intervals to monitor change in perceived relationship quality

What do the scores mean?

Higher scores indicate greater perceived quality of workplace relationships. Lower scores may reflect interpersonal difficulties, poor communication, limited support, or conflict within the working environment.

Scores should be interpreted alongside clinical interview and other wellbeing measures to build a fuller picture of the individual's occupational context.
