Leadership Vitality Scale
What it is
The Leadership Vitality Scale is a self-report questionnaire assessing vitality and sustainable functioning in leadership roles. Leadership vitality refers to the capacity to lead effectively over time without depleting one's physical, cognitive, and emotional resources — integrating performance with personal wellbeing and resilience.
The scale is particularly relevant in occupational and coaching contexts, where supporting leaders to function sustainably is a key concern. It can also be useful clinically for individuals in leadership roles who present with burnout, chronic stress, or reduced occupational functioning.
How is it used
- Suitable for adults in leadership or management roles
- Assesses the degree to which an individual experiences vitality, energy, and sustainable functioning in their leadership capacity
- Useful in executive coaching, occupational mental health, and return-to-work support
- Can be used at different time points to monitor change in leadership vitality
What do the scores mean?
Higher scores indicate greater leadership vitality and sustainable functioning. Lower scores may indicate depletion, reduced energy, or difficulty sustaining effective leadership, which may warrant further exploration of workload, recovery practices, or underlying mental health concerns.
Scores should be interpreted in the context of other occupational and wellbeing measures, and alongside information gathered in clinical or coaching conversation.
